Growth fund

• Are mutual funds that invest in stocks of companies which are expected to outperform most other firms. This out performance is predicated on faster growth than comparable firms in the same industry. Also, these industries can be those which are expected to experience growth rates in excess of an average.

• A diversified common stock fund that has capital appreciation as its primary goal. It invests in companies that reinvest most of their earnings for expansion, research, or development. See also: Diversified Common Stock Fund; Mutual Fund.
